Isabel Maria is a Spanish lady of good family living in England as the result of an arranged marriage. Generally speaking, she doesn't consider herself properly attired without a three foot train and several pounds of jewellery, but the bizarre sumptuary laws enacted by the English Queen, combined with the incessant rain, conspire to thwart her attempts at sartorial display.
