MEDIEVAL CHRISTMAS MERRIMENT
Barony of River Haven Hall
Saturday, 11th December, 2010. 6PM – 10PM
You are invited to a free Christmas evening of Merriment!
The Medieval Christmas Event will start ON TIME 6.30PM
Your arrival is expected from 5.45pm onwards and with the normal SCA requirements completed and a lovely drink in hand, we would appreciated if all good folk can be seated by 6.30 PM , when the evening's merriment will begin!
For all the children who are coming, a cushion would be ideal to bring.
If anyone arrives without a gift to exchange we will have some gifts that you can purchase for $10
The evening will be a garbed event with medieval food, music, dancing,games and a medieval gift giving (free for all children under 12 years)
Gift exchange for Adults: Each adult is to bring a medieval gift to the value of $8.00 approx. The ladies will bring a medieval female gift and gents will bring a medieval male gift. These gifts are to be wrapped in brown paper or material (calico is ideal) in keeping with the medieval theme.
Each family group or member is to bring a plate of medieval food for approximately 6 people. 9 More details soon These gifts of food are to be shared with our River Haven family at this very special time of the year. In Medieval times the gift of food was very common and in the very early periods these where the only gifts given at Christmas.
RSVP 4th Decemeber, 2010 to Brighid & Ringwar.
Please advise of any dietary requirements at the time of booking. Parents or carers who will have children under 12 years attending the Merriment must let Brighid know by 4th December, 2010 so suitable medieval gifts can be arranged. Please provide the child's name and age by the booking date.

- Bed coifs - small for men and women
- Coifs –s mall for wearing under heavy armour
- Embroidery kits (lady)
- Needles for embroidery or leatherwork (both)0

- Horn item (both)
- Hand woven towels (Both)
- Fancy buttons for that new doublet (both)
- Lace and trims (both)

- Candles – unscented and no colours (both)
Mini Market : Wed 1st December -some night as cheese making. Will be holding a mini market for those who wish to purchase a gift -approx valve at $8.00. Please come with small notes and change as members who are selling will not alot of change to exchange large notes etc.
Pot Luck Plate Information
We will be asking those who are attend this event to bring a pot luck plate of finger-style food for 6 people.
We are providing brinks -medieval cordials and cold water and drinks in fridge( $1) BYO alcoholic beverages
- Hot/cold meats – roast chicken, beef, lamb or pork, ham, corn beef
- Fish: Salmon
- Dried fruit and nuts
- Bread & butter
- Fresh fruit
- Quiches – different fillings
- Pastries – sweet or savoury
- Custard tart
- Fried mushrooms
- Boiled eggs
- Ginger bread
- Almond biscuits
- Potted meat
- Meatballs with sauce
- Turkish delight
- Fruit tarts - Apple, apricot or pear tarts
- Please NO soup or stews for this event
