The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) Officer is appointed by a majority decision of the Board of SCA Ltd (Australia) (hereon SCA Ltd).
The DEIB Officer is the chief administrative officer of the incipient Office of Inclusive Programs (OIP) and is tasked with:

  • Coordinating the advertising and filling of other positions in the OIP.
  • In consultation with other members of the OIP:
    • Recognising, creating, and implementing plans to promote diversity and inclusion to create an atmosphere where all people feel welcome and valued.
    •  Researching and advising the board on diversity, equity, and inclusion issues.
    • Developing, promoting and offering SCA Ltd Board-approved officer training programs to enhance understanding of inclusion issues.
    • Identifying DEIB trends outside the SCA and recognising best practices which will increase diversity in our membership.
    • In consultation with SCANZ:
      • Development of a Lochac DEIB Handbook
      • working with officers of the Kingdom of Lochac to improve diversity and inclusion practices.
      • Identifying DEIB trends within Lochac.
    • Reviewing SCA Ltd policies and procedures to ensure that these are inclusive.
    • Suggesting policies relating to diversity, inclusion, and corresponding affected areas.

Requires: 

  • Be a current SCA member, 18 years or older with:
    • knowledge and understanding of relevant mundane, Society and Kingdom rules as they pertain to DEIB
    • reliable and responsive access to email and internet connection
    • an ability to keep on top of a variety of related administrative tasks.
  • Be organised and able to organise others
  • Term typically two years: can be extended at the discretion of the SCA Ltd
  • Workload: unknown
  • Reporting Channel: report to the SCA Ltd every meeting. General reporting to the local populace is strongly encouraged.

Level of Decision Making Authority
Decisions made by personnel of the OIP must be confirmed by the SCA Ltd Board at their next meeting.

Expected Outcomes of the OIP:

  1.   Most SCA Ltd Board members, Kingdom officers and members are satisfied with the timeliness, accuracy and quality of the support and advice that they get relating to DEIB in Australia.
  2.   SCA Ltd approved DEIB training is available to and completed by all Australian citizen Kingdom and local officers at least once during their term of office.
  3.   Policies and procedures of SCA Ltd are regularly reviewed through a DEIB lens.
